Country Stars Afghan and Pillow                                  

AFGHAN

Size: (approx.) 49" x 53"

Hooks:  Afghan hook size N or 15mm and Crochet hook size N

Gauge: Afghan Knit Stitch - 6 sts and 7 rows = 2 inches

Materials

Use these colors or pick colors to match your decor!

Red Heart Classic 4 ply yarn

Color A - 19 1/2 oz Country Blue

Color B - 19 1/2 oz Windsor Blue

Color C - 19 1/2 oz Aran

Strip # 1

Afghan Knit Stitch (Make 3)

With color C, ch 26.  Work 25 rows C; 5 rows B; 25 rows A; 5 rows B; 25 rows C; 5 rows B; 25 rows A; 5 rows B; 25 rows C; 5 rows B; 25 rows A;  and bind off.

Strip #2

Afghan Knit Stitch (Make 2)

With color A, ch 26.  Work 25 rows A; 5 rows B; 25 rows C; 5 row B; 25 rows A; 5 rows B; 25 rows C; 5 rows B; 25 rows A; 5 rows B; 25 rows C;  and bind off.

Strip #3

Afghan Knit Stitch (Make 4)

With color B, ch 7.  Make 25 rows B; 5 rows A; 25 rows B; 5 rows A; 25 rows B; 5 rows A; 25 rows B; 5 rows A; 25 rows B; 5 rows A; 25 rows B; and bind off.

Duplicate Stitch

Follow the graph and duplicate stitch on the Aran squares.

Weave the strips together in the following order; Strip #1; #3; #2; #3; #1; #3; #2; #3; #1.

Border

Start in any corner sp; with color B.

ROWS 1-7:  Ch 2, 2 sc in same sp (corner made); sc in each st around, working 3 sc in each remaining corner sp.  Join with a sl st to top of ch 2.

PILLOW

Size:  (approx.) 13" x 16" excluding ruffle.

Pillow Cover Front:  Using the Afghan Knit Stitch; With color B, ch 35.  Make 5 rows B; 34 rows C; 5 rows B; and bind off.

Side Strips (Make 2):  With color A, ch 7.  Make 5 rows A; 34 rows B; 5 rows A; and bind off.

Weave these three pieces together for the cover front.

Duplicate stitch the front using the pillow graph pattern.

Pillow Cover Back:  With A, ch 48.  Make 45 rows A; and bind off.  

With wrong sides together, weave three sides of the pillow front and back together.  Do not cut yarn.  Set aside and make the inside pillow following the pillow instructions or purchase a 13" x 16" pillow form .  Insert the completed inside pillow into the pillow cover and finish weaving closed.

Ruffle

Row 1:  Start in any corner sp; with color B, ch 3; 2 dc in same sp as ch 3; dc in every sp around.  Join with a sl st to top of first ch 3.

Row 2:  Ch 3; 3 dc in next sp; (corner made), *dc in next sp; 2 dc in next sp; rep from * around, work 3 dc in remaining corners.  Join with a sl st to top of first ch 3.

Row 3:  Repeat row 2.  Fasten off.
